Hello- I am a former Estherville resident. I know that for a fact that campsite was open last summer. There are alot of parks in Estherville. You may have should of considered staying at a motel or going around town. It may have been closed because of no visitors. Estherville is a great city and maybe you should have given it a better chance. I found this site on the estherville.org guestbook i am feeling a little estherville home sick so i am going back there next week. You missed out getting to know a great town.
I am sorry you had a bad experience with Estherville. I am a former resident and the best place I can remember is the park area with the bridge. I try to get back there at least once a year now. Please give Estherville another chance.. the people are quite friendly and are willing to help if they know there is a problem.
