The 2005 Travels of Richard n Shirley

We are fulltime RV's. This means we have no other home but our motor home. We joined the Escapees RV Club and use their mail forwarding service and forum. In addition to Escapees forum, you can find us on rv.net and lrv2.com. We are Richard n Shirley on all of them. We access the internet with a Direcway satellite dish mounted on a tripod. We do set up the dish at every place we stop for the night or more. We are #2321 on datastormusers.com. Click us and you will find our current location.

Its Friday evening and here is the days news.

We arrived in Dallas about an hour, 7:20 am, after we left Benbrook. We made our way to the 3rd floor for our scheduled appointment to see the Dr. We had to wait till 9:00 am to begin. We first saw the nurse and had our vitals and temp take. My weight is 181, normal temp and bp was 111/87. So far so good, the pills are working.

We had to wait about an hour to see the Dr. Time by then was 10:00 am. He asked lots of questions to get my history and family history. And he asked about the extent of my angina. We are now labeled as having sever angina. And we are scheduled to be admitted for day surgery next wednesday morning to go to the cath lab. In there we will see what has changed. The Dr did state that my bypass operation of 16 years is unusual as the normal "vessel" use, hince the leg vein, lasts about 5-7 years. Since I had a chest vein used, he stated that these usually last 10 yrs. The Dr's back then said I was good for 10 yrs.

My memory tells me that the Dr's that did the bypass in 1990 were about the best in DFW and they were young guys. My Dr at the time, "JR" highly recommended them. it could be that I was lucky and got some current cutting edge surgeons 16 years ago. I had a fairly active life till Oct, 04. The summer of 04 I was able to mow grass. I would not even attempt that now. I played golf till late Sep,05 when angina stopped me. Even as late as Aug,05 I was playing golf with no discomfert. I had a cart quit on me in Superior, NE on the 2nd tee and had to walk carrying my bag, about 35#, over 550 yards back to get another cart.

Things now are, I don't and can't walk 100 feet, roll over in bed, shower and towel dry, etc without some angina. And it is getting steadly and notably worse. If the Dr had sent me home with "angina I had to live with", I don't think I would last more than a year. I call myself useless now. Unable to do much. Shirley wont let me vacuum, dump the tanks, or anything that would be exertion. Her and my fear is to break loose a bit of blockage and have it float to some spot that would cause an attack. The Dr that did my carotid surgery stated that this could be my demise. Yes its serious and we both are well aware of it. Hince my being a usless bum.

But, come wednesday, all this will change, hopefully. There are some conditions that could occur to prevent this reversal. And all of them await the cath lab procedure. I think it is worth noting that they are the minority. I look forward to being able to do what I was able to do the summer of 03, 04 and that was being very active. I'm to young to be in a wheel chair.

We will update this blogg after our return from Dallas next week unless there are happenings here where we are staying.

Richard,

We have been there. Terry's problems are a little different, but heart problems just the same. We certainly are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. The men in Terry's family have all had problems and they have all led full lives regardless. Everyday they come up with new procedures and solutions that help cardiac patients. And like Shirley, we wives step up to the plate to help keep the stress off you guys. Take care of yourself now and stay positive. You will get through this and you will be out on the road.

Thanks for keeping us posted. We do care and are thinking about you both.

Dale
