The 2005 Travels of Richard n Shirley

We are fulltime RV's. This means we have no other home but our motor home. We joined the Escapees RV Club and use their mail forwarding service and forum. In addition to Escapees forum, you can find us on rv.net and lrv2.com. We are Richard n Shirley on all of them. We access the internet with a Direcway satellite dish mounted on a tripod. We do set up the dish at every place we stop for the night or more. We are #2321 on datastormusers.com. Click us and you will find our current location.

We arrived at the Wynne ford house and got the bottle. And it was the right one too. Will put it on at our next stop at Jackson, TN. We drove thru Memphis, stopped at the Flying J and got propane. Hit the barrier as I was pulling out and messed up the last 12” of the right side of the RV. Never stop there again. We went on to a KOA and stopped. We need to dump and get water. Another place I’ll not come back to. To narrow, nopower at the box and no help in the office. And we paid $27 for the privilege too.

The mail came yesterday but we picked it up today. One day service via USPS express is pretty good. Shirley got her insurance papers and we re-mailed them from the post office. She came prepared with stamps and envelopes. We also mailed the bills that came too. We went by the Ford house and no water bottle, not till Tuesday. Thru there computer system, there is a bottle in Wynne, AR that is on our way. They called and had it held in sales for our pick up Saturday. Will change the bottle at the next stop. We drove most of the way to Wynne today to get a early start in the morning. We stayed at a rest area for the night. Probably the prettiest rest stop we will find.

We took the day trip, it was not that good but it was away from the RV. The roads are narrow to very narrow. Some of the roads are 10’ and some are 9’. Shoulders are 18” to 12” with a drop off. Never seen non interstate two lane roads so narrow. But we went to Camden and had a pick nick lunch. Not a lot to see there or on the road. Trees over a 100 ft tall on both sides of the road and not much else. Cute little towns along the way. Not sure just what I was expecting to see. Went by the Ford house to see about the bottle. It was back ordered from Detroit. May be in Friday but they didn’t think so.Will spend the night at the old Wally World parking lot.

It’s a cool morning with high clouds. Shirley is washing a load of clothes and we are still laying in bed when we hear this gurgle. I get up and find the gray tank is bubbling in the shower. Two loads last night and a load this morning and the 58 gal tank is full? No way. Drained the tank and went on. We moved to malvern to the old walmart parking lot for the night. We will take a day trip to camden tomorrow. Should be a fun day. We did order the over flow bottle for the RV. Hopefully it will be in tomorrow.

We left the info center and made our way to the diamond crater. Knowing that the best they can accommodate in the campground is 35 feet, we drove there anyway. Yep, 35 feet is the longest they can accommodate. We drove thru the info circle drive and left before we got ourselves stuck in to tight a place. We made our way in reverse to murfreesboro where we took the highway north instead of south. The road is marked as to the right and left is 27, no north or south. We were on our way to hot springs and not to I30. We made it to the loop around hot springs and on to malvern, ar. Well,we ended up in benton, ar as there is not an rv park for us in malvern, ar to our knowledge. We are in a dumpy place at $18 for the night. We will stay one night and leave in the am. Tonight it is raining and more is on the way. We need to hook up to get water and dump the tanks. So here we are. Did put the satellite up earlier but took it down with the threat of wind. So here we are, rain and all. We have to stay in the area to get our mail in malvern,ar Friday. We plan on leaving here in the morning and returning to malvern, ar and boondocking till Friday when we must get water and dump the tanks and get the mail. Then its hide tll tues after memorial day weekend.

We went back to texarkana and to a place called nicks rv repair. There he found the connector to the rv was faulty and needed to be replace as it was cracked. He also fixed, by replacing, the electric brake controller which put an end to the left wheel locking on the dolly.

We left carys house and headed to arkansas and the beginning of our full time rv lifestyle. Yea!
We are headed to texarkana and points east. We made it to the arkansas travel info center east of texarkana for the night. And, we have a problem with the trailer and car lights, or lack thereof. We wll need to go back to texarkana to get them fixed. We were one of three rv’s among the couple dozen trucks who spent the night.
