The 2005 Travels of Richard n Shirley

We are fulltime RV's. This means we have no other home but our motor home. We joined the Escapees RV Club and use their mail forwarding service and forum. In addition to Escapees forum, you can find us on rv.net and lrv2.com. We are Richard n Shirley on all of them. We access the internet with a Direcway satellite dish mounted on a tripod. We do set up the dish at every place we stop for the night or more. We are #2321 on datastormusers.com. Click us and you will find our current location.

We moved today from Wessington Springs. SD to Dakota Magic Casino, ND. location is I29 exit 1 in North Dakota. The whole trip was 259 miles on some very rough roads. Speed sometimes was only 45. I usually drive about 55-60. Faster and I dont get to see and slower and I hold up the traffic. We came up here to get some cooler, than 93, weather. Its been in the low 80's here. This is on the $2.33.9 gas we bought in Huron, SD. So far the camping cost is $10.00. The gas prices in the little towns on the way was $2.41.9. We have a half a tank, about 35 gallons which is 100 miles of gas. This gets us to a quarter tank and time to fillup. Tonight will be free and so will the next several as the rv park here is full and we are in the overflow bunch in the parking lot.
We stopped at Ellendale, ND and another town and checked out theparks for camping. No such luck. The park information we have is out of date. Ellendale is suppose to have free 14 day camping, no such thing today. This is how we ended up here at the casino.

A few more of the ball game. We got to see the six inning runs and it was exciting. The home team played their hearts out.
It was exciting to watch as we had time on our hands. It cooled down to 90 from 92 and we went to watch. This is by the pool which is down the hill from us. its been dry here. We came from MN where it had been raining an was wet. They havent had any rain in a while.
We went for a drive around town and there is not much here to see. The tallest building is the county court which is 3 floors. There is one grocery store, several gas stations, a golf course, but we didnt see a laundry. I will play golf tomorrow, hopefully.

The summer past time. This is the older age boys in a game. The home town team was 1 to 5 when we got there in the 4th. I want name any names but somebody changed to the visitors because they were leading.

The score is the final with the home team winning and a couple of action pics.

Sites up by the tennis/basket ball courts. No water and no dump. Also on side of hill which means no level places.

We have a pool here, childerns play area and our rv. We made this a pull thru by coming in by a out building and the power pole. We have the bottom site and its not quite level. Theree is water and sewer and elec. We will stay here for three days "free" before we move on. We drove from Blue Earth, MN and that was 334 mile total. We gassed up in Huron, SD and it was , are you ready, $2.33.9, or $117.00. I dont know what gas costs in DFW but this seems high to me.
And no we did not gamble. The buffet was high enough.
Tomorrow we will tour this cute little town set on the side ofa hill by SD34. Lets find out what there is here.

We stopped at the Minnesota and South Dakato information centers while leaving MN. We picked uo literature and went on our way to the casino at Landreau, SD. We had lunch at a McD so we went in for the evening buffet. They were pushing snow crab legs. The fish buffet featured shrip peel n eat, stuffed crab and prime roast beef. Their special for $11.95 per. We ate and stayed in the rv and spent the night free. Thr rv park had backins only so we didnt use it. We left the next day for points west. All that for $24.00.
From the SD info center is the "Little house on the.." real life person. he had moved from Honet Grove, MN to De Smit, SD.

I have no idea what this is called. Four riders enter the arena one at a time. The first rider trips the timer and they go around the four inline barrels, around the three corner barrels and then return to the inline barrels and out the gate. The last rider trips the timmer on exit which gives the total time of the event.
It was interesting to watch. Oh, a tipped barrel, which you see did happen, is a 5 second penalty.
These are teenagers doing the riding and they are fast. And they can really ride their horses.
This event took place actually saturday. But both we have a upset tummys so sunday was a day of rest.

If this upset condition continues into tuesday, its time to sanitize the water tank and lines. From my overseas experience, we probably got some bad water at one of our stops. This tank is from Spirit Lake. We were ok till then. For more on sanitizing a water tank, do a search on any of the forums. Surley we will be better by tuesday.

We will probably move monday. With the state budget passed, we will go to a state information center and get literature and a map to see what there is for us to see and do. We are free thru noon sunday and we paid the $5.00 thru monday. Sure helps our budget to have free parking and no miles on the RV.
