The 2005 Travels of Richard n Shirley

We are fulltime RV's. This means we have no other home but our motor home. We joined the Escapees RV Club and use their mail forwarding service and forum. In addition to Escapees forum, you can find us on rv.net and lrv2.com. We are Richard n Shirley on all of them. We access the internet with a Direcway satellite dish mounted on a tripod. We do set up the dish at every place we stop for the night or more. We are #2321 on datastormusers.com. Click us and you will find our current location.

I just hate it when you spend time typing in an update and then it doesnt post. When you type it over its just not the same. But it has to be done so here goess the update I typed in earlier which didnt post.

Its Friday morning and the low today was above freezing. The day before yesterday the temperature was below freezing here. Offically it was 32 but lower where we are. We have a water bottle used as a weight on the tripod that was froze the last two days. But not today. The high today is 61 and 68 tomorrow. The prior entry I typed earlier had the low at 38 for Sunday night. The current forecast has an Artic front coming down Sunday with the low Sunday night at 32.

We will dump our tanks tomorrow, day six. We dumped our tanks last Monday and we have 10 showers, 15 dish washings, potty and hand washing. Instead of 12 showers for six days, we have 10 as Monday is the first day and Friday is the fifth day which is 10 showers. Dw pours the dish washing waater into the black tank to save room for showers in the grey tank. Our grey tank is 52 gallons which could have been larger.

We unhooked our water line and put this up. We were using the water tank till this morning when I hooked up the water line and refilled the water tank for the next cold snap. Usually our cold snap lasts a day or two before it warms back up.

Today is the funeral for the Dallas police office killed last Sunday answering a domestic dispute call with 15 minutes left on his shift. He leaves a wife of two months. Remember your public servents everyday. They are under paid for the work they do.

It is a Thursday morning, and its warmer than it has been for the last two days. The offical temp for that morning was 33 but we were colder than that. We have a water bottle for weight on the tripod and the water froze. I had unhooked the water hose and put it away in case we got below freezing. Yesterday the water froze and it was above freezing officially at the airport, DFW.

And this morning it was 35 here at our location, per Weatherbug for 76126 zip code. I have not been out to check the water but it did not freeze. We have been on the water tank for three days now. I will hook us back up today and fill the water tank. Get us ready for the next cold snap .

We will dump the tanks tomorrow which will be day six. This amounts to 10 showers, 15 dish washings, potty and hand washing. So far we fill the black tank first. DW pours the dish washing water into the black tank, saving the grey tank for showers, etc. Our grey tank could be larger than the 52 gallons it is. By the sixth day, the black tank is very full. Why is it not 12 showers? We shower Monday night even though we dumped in the morning. So, Monday is counted as day one.

Suppose to be 61 today and 68 tomorrow. nice. Low for tonight is 38 and then its above 40 for the next four days. Nice weather for outdoor activities. After I see the VA hospital appointment on 12/2, I may get to play golf. YEA! I might even get to exercise too.

DW is doing great. She takes good care of me and herself. She pushes me to take my pills. I do anyway but she usually asks. I do the same for her as sometimes we do forget. Like last night. OOPS!

Today is the funeral for the Dallas police offer killed in the line of duty last Sunday. He was 15 minutes away from ending his shift when he answered a domestic violence call. He had a wife of two months. Tragity can strike at any time in any place. Remember all your public servents everyday.

It’s a Monday and I’m going to try this again

This is a second attempt as the first got lost in computer laa laa land. Its Monday morning at dark thirty and time for all them that work to get up and go to work. Get showered, dressed and have breakfast and off you go to the freeway to joint he others in that mad dash to work. All that rush to go 30 MPH if your lucky. Reminds me of a saying,

“I owe, I owe, so off to work I go”.

We got up at our usual hour of 8:00 am and started our day. Had breakfast and dressed by 9:30. And out the door we go to head to buy groceries. The car battery is dead! Natta, Zip! Pushed it to the rv so we could jump it, got it started and off to Grumpy’s in Crowley to have the alternator checked. Its good. Now off to O’Reilly’s to have the battery checked. It’s good. Either we left a light on or we have a drain. Time will tell.

We finally made it to Wal-mart and bought our list of food items and a few non-food items. The price of rope lights is $3.00 cheaper than Lowe’s but all they have is clear and red. No green or blue lights. We will keep looking. We do not buy meat or veggies there but we go to Albertson’s for these items. We head home, to the rv, and put those items away, and have lunch. Then its off to Albertson’s for the rest of our shopping.

Once we are home and have all the groceries put away, its time to dump the tanks. We unhook, close the two slides, and drive to the dump site. This is an every 5 or 6 day job we must due when we do not have a sewer connection. Unhook to return and re-hook up takes us at most 20 minutes here. Some other places more and sometimes less. Its part of the life style we have. Our next date is Friday of this week.

We will go into tomorrow’s cooler weather with a clean rv, lots of eats and all our outside chores done. We will stay in most of the time, keep comfy warm and find things to do. If I can find time, ha ha, I will update this blogg. Maybe there is something interesting enough to take a picture of.

Its a Sunday night and we had a good day. Really all of our days are usually good. Today was a busy day from early till late. Its late an the 2nd half of the movie, Catagory 7, End of the world, on CBS is on. I'm sure when the movie is over that the life on earth wil go on. Atleast in the movie it will.

We started our day as usual, at 8:00 am we got out of bed. By nine we were dressed and had breakfast. We busied our selves with email, checking out the news and the forums we keep up with. This afternoon we took the bent right skirt off and straightened the bent frame. It does look much better now. Shirley put it back on and we had a chore done. Next was to wash the RV.

We have a bottle of special wash concetrate we wil use. It came with the RV. Its a capful to two quarts. We will see how this works. We bucket wash and we have a 1.5 gallon bucket and our mop. It takes 3 buckets to wash and 5 bucket to rinse. When we are done the RV is pretty clean and streak free. We will use the squeege to wipe the rinse water off. This is like doing the windows except we will do the whole RV. We waxed the lower half last spring. We will need to wax again this spring and get the whole coach. We now have a second chore done.

the last chore is to check the stair bolts to make sure they are tight. and thye were.Shirley checked them with a 1/4" drive ratchet and she could not turn either of the two bolts. There is suppose to be four bolts but only two are in place. Some where in time we will drop the stairs and put the other bolts in place. Anyway, another chore is done.

While I took a nap, DW baked brownies and went for a walk. MMMMMMMMM, the brownies were good. Tomorrow is dump day and we will have 5 days in the tank and thats our limit. To go more than 5 days requires less water usage that is for another day. The weekend campers have all left and the place is quiter. And with the cooler weather coming in Tuesday morning, dumping the tanks on Monday is good timing.

Not a lot to say, we did do some house work and all. What we did was not our usual daily stuff. We dusted the dash, oiled the wood (dusted it), cleaned filters, etc. Cleaning that is not a daily thing. Our daily cleaning is vacuum the floors, clean the kitchen and dinning table, trash, kitty box and bathroom counter top. On dump day, the potty and shower get cleaned.

We are still providing wifi for those around us. Our neighbor came over last night to ask if it was ok to use. His 11 year old brandson was staying and discovered the signal. I told him it was there to use and he said his GS would be grateful. I told him that there were alot of adults happy for the signal. We have had as many as five at one time online so far. Right now there is 2 besides myself. DW is watching tv in the bedroom.

Thats all for today. Last warm day for a week is tomorrow and we will do errands.
