The 2005 Travels of Richard n Shirley

We are fulltime RV's. This means we have no other home but our motor home. We joined the Escapees RV Club and use their mail forwarding service and forum. In addition to Escapees forum, you can find us on rv.net and lrv2.com. We are Richard n Shirley on all of them. We access the internet with a Direcway satellite dish mounted on a tripod. We do set up the dish at every place we stop for the night or more. We are #2321 on datastormusers.com. Click us and you will find our current location.

We only went to one of the many covered bridges here.
This one is in the city park and easy to get to. The others are a drive away.

We will tour the town today, see John Wayne's home, see a couple of the covered bridges and go downtown. One of the things we have found in the towns we stop at or drive thru is they have some pretty old homes. Old being late 1800 and early 1900. All of them have been well cared for. Get some pics of some today. More later.

We both woke up with our sinus's bothering us. If we dont get this taken care of this am, then this will be a rest day. And it turned out to be a rest day. Shirley's cleared up by noon but I still have a headache. Either the sinus pills I took and/or my blood pressure meds are making me sleepy. To sleepy to do anything.
Shirley made it to the post office and got our mail. We are still getting lots of junk mail. Hopefully this will stop soon. We got the last of our get on the road statements. Pay these off and we can start working within a budget. This statement has our satellite purchase and good sam statement.

Today is moving day. We left the Lakeside Casino at Osceola, IA for Winterset, IA . We plan on visiting the three campgrounds there and staying at one of them. As it turns out the city park campground had three pull thru's which we didn't like as there was only elec at $13.00 a day. There were some full hook up back ends for $15.00 per day which we did not like. So, we parked the rv in a ball park parking lot and went looking in the car. Of the other two camping areas, one was closed for road construction and the other had too many low limbs for us. But it was very secluded.
We passed a sign pointing to the county fairgrounds so we decided to take a look. We found a site for us and it was $10.00 per day with electricity, and it was shaded, and the satellite found a hole in the trees. We have internet and shade and it's cooler.
We came to Winterset to get our mail. It shoud be here tomorrow, we hope. As for our next stop, plan that tomorrow.

The Lakeside Casino RV park is nice. Concrete, level pads with a table. A nice walk to the casino. We drove over there and went in to get our players card and pay for the parking. This is one of the many no cash back casino with the debit voucher that you take to the cashier or put into another machine. Have not gotten use to the lack of "clink of coins" that hit the payout tray.
We paid our parking and had breakfast at the buffet, we were too late for the buffet. We went back to the RV to rest for a bit. Oh yes, we got a t-shirt for being a new player. Nice to get something free. It is white with the casino name on front and back.

Today is moving day. We are planning on going west to Cameron which is at I35 and US 36. There is a county park and a superstore there for the night. Since it's about an hours drive, we will stop in Chillicothe on the way and see what is there. Chores for today include oil for engine, air in tires, and the usual coach get-ready stuff.
Well, we did none of the above. We drove straight to Osceola, IA to stay at the Lakeside Casino. Rates are $10.00 with a players card. Nice rv park with concrete, level pads and tables. We will stay a couple of days and get any washing done. It is hot here in Iowa. The temps are around 90 with the humidity at 70% and higher. Calls for afternoon showers. They do get some violent thunderheads here with high, over 75 mph, winds. In case of a tornado, we have no place to go close by. This is typical for us. The motor home offers no protection from high winds and blowing debries.
We typically clean the house and check everything on moving day. This way we arrive at the next destination clean and without any delays. It's nice to have a clean house when you get there.
