The 2005 Travels of Richard n Shirley

We are fulltime RV's. This means we have no other home but our motor home. We joined the Escapees RV Club and use their mail forwarding service and forum. In addition to Escapees forum, you can find us on rv.net and lrv2.com. We are Richard n Shirley on all of them. We access the internet with a Direcway satellite dish mounted on a tripod. We do set up the dish at every place we stop for the night or more. We are #2321 on datastormusers.com. Click us and you will find our current location.

And a new day dawns. We have chores to do today. We are planning on moving Monday so we must start getting ready. We have to check the motor home for start up. We have to wash clothes, clean the ref/freezer, dump tanks and get water, and clean the coach. We won't get it all done in one day though. But we will get a start on our chores.
So far this week it has rained every afternoon but one. If it rains today then our to do list will be carried over into Sunday. We have had so much rain that the ground is turning green. If there is mold/mildew outside, there is going to be the same inside. Shirley has the closet door open where the cover for the hot water heater is. She smells mildew there. Today she put the room air cleaner near the closet and turned it and the overhead fan, ac fan, on to get some air circulation going. There were mushrooms growing from the wall and carpet in the passenger seating is. Hopefully there won't be any more growing. We went to Walmart and I bought 3 new shirts. I didn’t have enough to make it from laundry to laundry day. Plus a couple of the shirts needed to be trashed.

We slept in till nearly 10. I got up at 4am with a touchy tummy and sat on the potty for a while. When it was safe, I went back to bed. Shirley thinks it’s the water, not use to it. The water is safe to drink, just not use to it. We drink so many water processing systems that we are having “loose” bowels. We will try to stay with wally world bottled water and see how we do. Shirley tried the convection part of the microwave and baked biscuits. The problem with the oven is nearly no readable/understandable display. So it’s a guessing game. The biscuits turned out great and we consumed two each. Its 3:30 and raining. We have a squall line moving thru and that’s all. It turned a warm day into a cool afternoon. It's very pleasant. And it's now 7 pm and it's still raining. Got the car washed after dinner, well at least soaped but not rinsed. We will see if the rain will wash it off. The rain lasted for several hours and did a pretty good job of washing it off.

Shirley decided it was a good idea for us to stay till Monday noon. Save us a lot on gas since we have not determined where we are going next. This will put our stay at 9 days. We have a planned route from Mexico, MO to go north. How and where we actually go will be determined on Monday when the motor is started and we make our way back to the highway. We will turn left, north, and were off again. It is real nice to stop for a week and rest us and the coach too. Even Tom Cat likes the stop. He has been getting up earlier and spending more time with us.
We went to buy a new trailer tire. We ended up all over town at all of the tire stores before we found one at a local farm store. This took 4 hours total to get a single tire. We started this at noon at wally world and got back at 4 pm. We had a light dinner and went fishing in the lake. No bits and no fish. But we had fun.

Shirley went to the post office and we have mail. And I washed the coach from a bucket. The mail contained my glasses, our mortgage left over, more good sams ins papers for the car and coach, bills and some junk mail. The check went back to the po for deposit to our bank account. The junk mail went into the trash and we kept the magazine from good sam to read. The insurance papers are exactly the same as we have the best we can determine. My glasses are from the VA and I will wear them when I am not driving. I need to get some shades for them. And they are much smaller than I have.
Got the coach cleaner with 2 soap buckets and 3 rinse buckets. Looks better. Even did the windows os and came back and put windshield washer fluid, from the spray bottle, and cleaned them again. The bugs are difficult to get off the wind shield. We dumped the tanks and got water. After we had finished our chores, it rained a good bit for the late afternoon and evening. I did take the lnb and dish off in case we got wind. I ended up putting it back up later in the evening. I have added the router and the campsite is wireless for those that have wireless computers. And Shirley and I had a fight too. A real dussy of one.

We slept till 8:30 this morning. Felt good! Today is laundry day. Shirley is off to find a coin laundry. I spent the time going thru the gps book and learning some about the gps. It’s an interesting device. With it you can go about anywhere and find your way around as well as your way back. IE. Shirley cant get lost. I will see about washing the rv somehow. There is a water outlet close by and I have a bucket and soap and a brush. Will give it a try Wednesday for sure.

The mornings are cool and the afternoons get to 90. With the humidity, it is quite hot. So we enjoy cool mornings and run the ac in the afternoons. It is so pleasant here. We can take morning walks, mid morning or anytime walks. We rested today by doing nothing. We watched some tv, answered some email, searched on the internet, and played with our new gps. We bought in Jackson, TN a garmin gps72. The book for it is small but the gps can do so much. This is how I am able to get our location for datastorm mapping. Shirley has learned to get directions with it and go geocaching here in the park. She went to the spot the geocaching was supposed to be but needed different clothes to get it.Took the tire of the dolly and put on the spare. Our camp host lent me his phone book and I got names and phone numbers of tire stores to call for a trailer tire. All in all a fine day was had. We went to the post office and got there address for our mail to be forwarded to. Should be Thursday, but we will check on it Wednesday.

We woke up to a cool morning and no signal on the computer. After breakfast, we fixed that with re-alignment and a better signal. With our stay comes some repair and maintance. I need a new tire on the dolly, laundry, and mail service. Other than that, we enjoyed a restfull day. I slept in the afternoon about 2 ½ hours.
