The 2005 Travels of Richard n Shirley

We are fulltime RV's. This means we have no other home but our motor home. We joined the Escapees RV Club and use their mail forwarding service and forum. In addition to Escapees forum, you can find us on rv.net and lrv2.com. We are Richard n Shirley on all of them. We access the internet with a Direcway satellite dish mounted on a tripod. We do set up the dish at every place we stop for the night or more. We are #2321 on datastormusers.com. Click us and you will find our current location.

Its a Saturday evening and there is little on tv. Sooooo, its scour the internet and see what there is that I have not found. And we had a 5th move with there two computers. So far no one has moved into that spot. There is five plus us on the signal tonight, including a new one. I bet they were surprised to find wifi in the middle of nowhere.

I did get a call from my daughter on friday late afternoon. But it seems that 12 miles was a long way to travel to see dad or even to say happy turkey day. Plans did not include me. Here brother has yet to call, email. I guess that is just how good a job I did raising my two. And grandpa could do a better job of remembering his grandkids too.

Our rain today here was a few drops. the lake is 12 feet down, our rain fall is 13 inches and counting below where we should be. It has been a dry year. But it could be worse, somehow.

And a good time was had by all. The food was great and so was the company. We had the usually turkey, dressing, giblet gravy, mashed potatoes, grean beans and sliced potatoes, yams, fiesta salad, fruit coctail, rolls and iced tea. Yummy, yummy.

For desert there was pumpkin pie and pecan pie. Again, yummy, yummy. For after dinner was the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos. Dallas lost on two plays. An interception early and a well run play, both for 14 points.

Hope ya'll had a good time today and remember to thank your cook for all the work involved in putting together a dinner for today. Thank you for a very fine dinner!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

We are up at the normal hour of 8:00 am and drinking coffee. Shirley is sitting on the couch watching the NY parade. It was 39 this morning and cloudy. Suppose to get to the lower 70's this afternoon. I'm planning on it being warm as I'm wearing warm weather clothes. But, I'm taking a sweater this morning till it does get warm.

We are furnishing wifi around us and we have had 13 total computers connected to our wireless router signal. I'm sure there were some very suprised people to have a signal out here. We have had two campers come and tell us thanks. One of them even went to the gate attendent to see whom to pay. The gate attendent was surprised to find out there was wifi here.

To all who will read this blogg today, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours today and enjoy the bounty God gives to you everyday. Drive safe and be kind to those that cross your path today.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

This is Monday morning and all's well. We got our chore done Saturday morning, tanks emptied, and todays chore, the extension. This extension will go to the morning of 12/6. Our VA hospital appointment is 12/2. I paid for eleven days which is to the morning of 12/3. Are you confused?
We will dump tanks on Wednesday, 11/23 and again six days later on 11/29 and on 12/3 if we move or 12/4 if we dont move.Where should we move to?

My brother is coming to be with his wifes family for Thanksgiving. My dad is in a assisted living center in Hobbs, NM. Our plans have been to go see dad after we get thru with the VA appointment. If we do that, its on to AZ. If we go south from the VA, then I'l not see my dad till next March when we should go to NM. Its our plans to go west next spring. Where should we move to?

It will all depend on the price of gas in December and March. If it will go down more or at least not rise above the current level of $2.14 then we will go west. Our budget is for two fillups in a month at 7 mpg at $2.50 maximum dollars for a 1000 miles per month. The more we spend on gas the less we have for travel mileage and paid camping. This gets us into finding free spots to stay. And my DW does like full hookups. It would be nice to see gas go down to pre-hurricane levels again.

Lets hope for jobs so we can repay our bank account. This first year is expensive.
