The 2005 Travels of Richard n Shirley

We are fulltime RV's. This means we have no other home but our motor home. We joined the Escapees RV Club and use their mail forwarding service and forum. In addition to Escapees forum, you can find us on rv.net and lrv2.com. We are Richard n Shirley on all of them. We access the internet with a Direcway satellite dish mounted on a tripod. We do set up the dish at every place we stop for the night or more. We are #2321 on datastormusers.com. Click us and you will find our current location.

We have 1274 readers now how have looked at this web site. All I would like to add is thank you for looking at our meager blogg.

Well, its Saturday and its going to be a beautiiful yet warm day. Our forecast is for 92 and thats hot for this part of the country. Being from north Texas, thats warm but not hot. Hot starts at 95 and goes up from there. And its already 92 at this time of the day.

We have the a/c running and we are inside. We got our mail today and received 90% junk and 10% mail. The junk went into the round can and the mail got handled. its amazing as to how much junk mail we still get. As the mail man sad one day, if it weren't for the junk mail, he'd be without a job.

Not a lot to add, one of our neighbors left today and then another. We have two left. The weather, oh, covered that. The car was washed yesterday, got the registration sticker for the car for 2006, got the mail, covered that too. Well as I said, not a lot to say today. There maybe more later to add. If not see ya tomorrow. Hope golf is on. Go see some of my links and see what they are doing, especially George and Ms Tioga.

Its a butterfly and guess how's hand its on? The butter fly was flying round us and landed on the awning arm. DW reached over and it crawled onto her hand. She was so happy!

She even let me get my hand involved. See the new chair we bought? We found them on sale at wally world here and got two of them. The ones we had were not doing well and it was time to get new ones. Those are comfy cushions and they go with comfy chairs.

Not a lot to say for today. Our neighbor bought a new kountry star and it was to be delivered today. Notice I said was. It broke down in Indianapolis and wont be here till tomorrow or monday. They must go on and will be back in 3 weeks. The tranny was acting up.

It was just one of those days. It all began kinda early when this class a pulls in about 7:15 am. Now that is kinda early. Since we dont get started that early, it was an eye opener. There is this 35 ft Damen Challanger slowly coming down the road looking for a place to park. There are 10 spaces and he looks at the one next to us. Slowly drives past and stops, on comes the backup lights and here he comes. He has a 10 ft trailer on the back and he is backing into the space next to us.

And he does this in only one try. Has it in reverse and just slowly backs up and puts trailer and rv in the space on the first try. I am amazed. To me thats a feat. I do good to back up my rv the first time. And thats without the car. I'm still a newbe yet.

DW got woke up early so she got up as we have a full morning. There are clothes to wash and and rv to vacuum. As usual I get the hard job, vacuuming. DW is off after breakfast to the laundry and I get the place vacuumed, litter box cleaned and trash out. Really, the hard job is the laundry. But its all done, we have clean clothes and a vacuumed floor. We put all the clothes up and relax for a bit, its nearly time for lunch. Dont know about you guys, but we're tired, at least I am.

We did have guests this afternoon. Ron and Jerri Lea Hopf come by our place to say hello. So far we have met our second Escapees couple. They had been watching our postings and found our location on datastormusers.com. I post our gps location and where we are. That way anybody in the area can come by. If you get a chance to meet them at the Escapade, do so as they are a very nice couple.

In the mean time, ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

Some pics today to publish. We went to our new location and took our align-a-site to see where we would be placing our tripod. It will be close to the stake and between the stake and the tree. The tree has some dead limbs that will interfer with the signal if I place the tripod to close to the tree.

If you look close, there is a hawk in the pic on the tree limb. Shirley caught sight of it and she watched thru her binoulors and I took a couple of pics. He jumped from the limb to the ground and did some snooping. He is between the 213 post and the tree. After a couple of minutes he flew away. It was neat to watch.

We will stay here for seven more days and then move to our new space at the South Marcum campgrounds. We will be in space 125 till the morning of the 25th when we and those here will go as a group to Du Quoin, all of 14 miles, for our fall Escapade. The springEscapade had something like 1200 rv's. Should be a crowd! It all ends on the am of the 30th and we will be headed to Texas, Fort Worth area, for our VA appointment and Shirley's dentist. We have hopes that gas will be cheaper and will be available without a limit. I plan on driving about 400 miles which will put us east of Little Rock for the night and gas. The whole trip is about 730 miles. Then we got to decide where we will be to work and stay till April 1.

We can all wonder what 2006 will bring!

It was to good to be true, at least the second time around. We, Dw and myself went golfing again today to the country club. Weeeeeellllllll, the price was more than the $9.00 that I paid the last time. It was $32.00 plus $4.00 for range balls. And that was for 9 holes. The last time I was there it was $9.00 for 18 holes and that included cart. Too good to be true the second time around.

But we had fun. Shirley has had lessons but she doesnt play often. So, she forgets alotof the things she must do. I enjoy her company and if she hits a good shot out there, yea for her. The driving range is a maximum of 175 yards as the rest is private property and out of bounds. the most I can hit is a 6 iron or a soft 5 and watch the roll. The reward of this is burgers at hardees.

And gas is still at $3.09.9 and $3.05.9 at Murphys.

Here in the waning hours of Labor Day weekend. We had 10 spaces filled and we are down to 6 old and a new one. Tomorrow should be only two unless someone extends their stay. The new one is a class A with toad that came in about noon and is staying a week.

We were entertained with karoke last night till 10:30 pm. There were a couple of good singers. All this took place across from us. They had a good time and so did we. Our neighbors next door are here awaiting the birth of their 3rd grandchild. With the exception of us, all of theses campers re local and know each other.

We went to town and had KFC for dinner. The gas prices are still at $3.09.9 and $3.05.9 at Murphy's. Maybe they will go down for our trip to Texas. Yea, right!

We got campers every where. The group across from us has one extra car. The space next to them has four extra vehicles, and three tents. Thats inaddition to the TT and pull vehicle. Next to them is one extra car. And on it goes. Around here, you got to be carefull. The kids are all over the road with their bikes and motorized scotters.

The weather is perfect. High today is 89 with a morning low of 57. No clouds in this sunny day. Beats haveing a 100 day anytime. I hope you and yours has a day as perfect as this on this Labour Day weekend.
Now, back to the PGA tour.
